Nicholas Carothers

Guitar and Bass — Founder

Nicholas Carothers, founder of West Shore Music, has developed innovative learning materials that have helped children and adults achieve outstanding results on guitar, bass, and ukulele. Known for his ability to work with students at every level — from complete beginners to advanced players — his teaching experience spans respected programs including PA Cyber, the Pollock Center, and Outschool.  He is the creator of the Teach Your Kids Guitar curriculum, the Make Music Easy® songbook series, and Kids Love Guitar — a specialized children’s program operating within West Shore Music studios.

An active performing musician, Nicholas has appeared at venues including the Harrisburg Forum, Club XL, Riverfront Park and The Fillmore Philadelphia.  He has shared the stage with artists such as Pat Travers, Evelyn “Champagne” King, Loose Ends, C+C Music Factory, and Maze, and has performed locally with Positive Force, D-Bo and currently with his original band Another Vibe.

Pishima Calloway

Guitar, Ukulele and Voice

Pishima Calloway is a passionate and accomplished music educator and performing artist from Central Pennsylvania. A multi-instrumentalist and gifted vocalist, she began studying piano and guitar at a young age and formed her first band at just 12 years old, touring up and down the East Coast.

She has appeared at venues including the Harrisburg Forum, HMAC, and The Abbey Bar, and has performed with acts such as HOKO, Positive Force, Due Process, and has shared the stage with internationally acclaimed R&B group Loose Ends.  As the lead vocalist and bandleader of the Harrisburg-based original band Another Vibe, Pishima brings real-world experience, professionalism, and energy into every lesson — helping students build confidence, skill, and a love for music.

Dave Shultz

Guitar and Ukulele

Dave is an accomplished guitarist and active performer in the Central Pennsylvania music scene. With many years of playing experience, his style emphasizes feel, musicality, and practical musicianship — the qualities that help students become confident and inspired.

Outside the studio, Dave is a familiar presence on stages throughout the Harrisburg area. He regularly performas at venues such as Abbey Bar, HMAC, Underground Live, Shermans Dale Inn, and area American Legions. He’s also a regular at Blues Society of Central PA jam nights and currently plays with the local rock/variety band Hattrick.

Larissa Zeigler

Guitar and Ukulele

Larissa Zeigler has loved music from a young age and has been singing and playing guitar since she was 10. She has spent many years serving on her church’s worship team, developing strong live performance experience and a natural ability to lead others through music.

In addition to private lessons, Larissa works at summer camps, where music is a central part of her role — helping lead worship, sing with students, and create an engaging environment for children and teens. Known for her patience and encouraging personality, she loves helping young students build confidence, develop strong fundamentals, and discover the joy of making music.

Austine Shughart

Guitar and Bass

Austine Shughart is a guitar and bass instructor with nearly 20 years of experience across a wide range of musical styles. Known for his encyclopedic knowledge of music — spanning decades of bands, genres, and artists — he brings a well-rounded perspective to his teaching, helping students connect with the music they love while expanding their overall musical understanding.

In addition to teaching, Austine regularly performs onstage with the worship and arts team at LCBC West Shore, where he also serves as music director. His professional experience, combined with a focus on strong fundamentals and real-world playing skills, allows him to create engaging lessons that help students build confidence and grow as musicians.
